Genre chosen for Magazine

For my magazine I have chosen to to do a Indie Rock Magazine. I have chosen this genre as it seem's like a fun and interesting idea to cooperate Indie and Rock together. I also have chosen this genre because I enjoy listening to this type of music and enjoy the listening to the different bands and artists this genre revolves around. I also believe with the different conventions that revolves around this genre will be fun and interesting to work with.

 I have chosen to analyse this magazine as it is a typical Indie magazine. This is because of the gender specific colours, using colours related to gender this makes the magazine appeal to both male and female audiences.

The front cover font style is very large and fun and shows of the idea of the magazine being brilliant for teenagers.

The model is looking into the camera but with his head titled slightly this is uses Mulvey's theory ' woman do things to attract male attention.' But in this case the model seems to be posed in such a position to attract female gaze.

The house theme of this magazine seems to be red, blue&white. And the image seems to be took in such a way as the background around his body seems darker whereas around his head it seems lighter and more in focused.

I would like to use ideas like this with the photo I am going to use my front cover, I believe this is a great idea as it differently draws the eye to the models face.

I am going to use the way the image is focused on the artists face and also on the prop to draw attention to the models face.
