My DPS is based on a interview style due to my TA results. I have asked questions which I believe are relevant to my genre and magazine with a total of 1287 words.
So Elisha
Mae how long have you been creating music and what brought you into the music
business?
I think from being a child I got into the idea of singing and
always dreamed about standing in front of hundreds of people singing my own
songs and seeing people rocking out. I know that all the hours I used to spend
in front of the mirror singing away, terribly may I add, to some amazing
artists really made the dream come alive. Although I am a very inexperienced artist with only a year behind my career I believe that I don’t really show it
with some of my songs.
What was
the first song you sung live and how did that make you feel?
I remember about two years back stood in an old pub shaking
terribly due to fear and trying to focus on my first song “Broken Dreams” it wasn't prefect and neither was my style. I was so undecided with which genre I
wanted to focus my music on that I could tell my performance and the message I
wanted to get through to all the drunken men and women sat judging me wasn’t displayed
like I so desired. I was so nervous and my voice was so shaky I could tell my
audience were getting bored and uninterested. Although I must say once I
finished that traumatic experience and to hear the drunken cheers and claps of
the people who had stuck by and listened made me feel amazing. I remember through
that night debating if I could ever do that again, but the feeling I got inside
hearing those cheers just made me want more and to do it all over again.
What are
your songs about?
My songs are about me and how from that first experience
singing live I have become more of a strong and independent woman. Showing my
fans that no matter what people think of you, you can differently become the
person you've always wanted to. And even if you fall down, if you fail at your
goals, you have to pick you self-up and keep trying otherwise what was the
point in setting those dreams for yourself. My songs are about how everyone
goes through heart breaks, traumatic times and times we all want to forget, but
no matter what happened in the past we will always be strong and fight on for
what we desire.
If you had
the opportunity to change the music industry what would you change?
I would change the fact that Indie Rock as a genre seems to
be a man’s world and how hard it is for a woman to be taken seriously in this
genre with the music she produces. I would also change how difficult it is for
a young woman or artist to be seen by the world and by the music industry. I
have tried so hard for so many years to be signed by a big company but no one
wants to know, due to my age and inexperience. I wish people would just give
some artists a chance because many of us young artists can produce new exciting
music the world wants and needs.
Where would
you like to see yourself in the next 5 years? What are your ambitions?
In the next 5 years? That’s difficult…I think I would like to
see my-self as a known artist with an abundance of fans, with a big line up of
concerts and some tours across the globe. I’d like to see my-self with a multiracial
fan group and being known across the globe even if it’s by a few fans here and
there. I’d love to be known for my music and strong image and not for bad
reasons. In 5 years I’d like to see my-self being signed by a major company
which will let me express my music and my style in my own way, to be able to
show my family and few fans that I can do it and I will get my name out there one
day. Even if it does take me 5 years.
What did
you do before you got into the music industry?
Before I got into the music industry I was focused on my
horse and maintaining my riding and competitions. I had a part time job in a kitchens near where
I live working from 4-9 every night after college. I was set on the idea of
being known by many but didn't know how, for a while I had my heart set on
being a professional horse rider and putting my name and Roman’s Dream out
there but the more I tried to focus I found my-self being more and more in love
with the idea of expressing my-self through music. Even if it was just featuring
in someone’s music video.
Roman’s
Dream? Is that your horse?
Yes Roman’s Dream is my horse I've owned him ever since he
was a foal and now at 4 years old he is a gentle man, to me and to my friends
who ride him. I have worked so hard to bring him to where he is now and I
honestly don’t know what I’d do without him and his love and comfort. I spend
most of my weekends riding around the fields where I live just exploring the
nature in the woods and still learning many things about my companion. My self
and Roman have had a few hiccups together but as a rider I do expect that,
especially with him being a young gelding.
Is there
anyone special you want to say thank you to?
Yes I’d love to say thank you to my ever so supportive
boyfriend Joshua who has been with me now for 2 years! He is honestly my
biggest fan and my inspiration for some of my songs. Also I’d like to say thank
you to my family and my friends without their push I don’t believe I’d be where
I am now my music is my world and I want to show that in my songs and my
performance.
Do you have
your own website? And where can fans purchase your music?
Yes I do have my own website ElishaMaeupandcoming.com fans
can post what they thought of a concert if they attended and how they feel
about my music. On my website my fans can find details of my next concerts
where to buy tickets from and if I am an act on a tour. I had one young girl
comment and say my music has helped her over come so many obstacles in her life
and she is now back on track to reaching her dream. This honestly made me feel
so amazing knowing my music has helped people with reaching their dreams, it’s
honestly a feeling I can’t express in words. For my fans they can either
download my music off the website or through iTunes. I wanted to make it easy
for people to download my music, there is also many videos of me singing on YouTube for fans to access and listen to.
Elisha I
must say it had been an honour to speak with you today and to get to know with
you. I wish you truly the best with your music career and I hope to see you
play live soon.
Thank you Abigail it has been a privilege to speak to you and
to help my-self get known. For my fans out there my next live show will be on February
21st 2016 at Sheffield Arena I hope to see all of you there.
