Research: Front cover 8

I have chosen to analyse this magazine as it relates to my genre. First impressions of this magazine are that it is very busy and interesting. I can clearly tell from this magazine that it is aimed at a female audience from the house style and from the way the models are stood.

The front cover is very busy and the mast head is placed behind the models. this is breaking conventions. Also there is a lot of text on the front cover this is great as it shows the different articles to be included in this magazine.

The model's eyes are covered and this breaks conventions I like this idea as it makes them seem more like a rocker this incorporated Dyer's theory of "an artist is only a image" as all the models are clearly showing themselves as just items and not real people.

I believe the colour of the writing is pink due to the fact that the models seem to be incorporating Mulvey's theory of that 'women do things for male attention' this is showing that these males are posing and acting this way for female attention.

From this front cover I may use the colours used, if I am going to create a magazine for females I may use gender oriented colours.

  1. The masthead behind the models doesn't break conventions. It is the fact that three of them have their eyes covered and are not looking into camera. there is so much more you can do here. Why a pink font? Consider the representation and pink as a symbolic colour. This is a very minimal post Abigail and you need much more here. Also, you must add to each post how it has influenced your planning and creativity.
